This Veterans Day

A note from Congressman Tony Cárdenas:

Dear Friends,

This week has been difficult on a lot people. However, we cannot forget those who have protected us and have allowed us to engage in the civic process. We thank you, America’s service members, veterans, and military families, for all of your sacrifices, not just on Veterans Day, but every day.

Here are a few ways that grateful Americans can say thank you this weekend and beyond:

1. Go to an Event!

Attend a parade or an event. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the Veterans Day Forum that I’m hosting tomorrow, Friday, November 11, 2016 at 4:00 PM at the Richard E. Byrd Middle School in Sun Valley, CA.

2. Visit a VA Facility!

Close by are the West Los Angeles Medical Center at 11301 Wilshire Boulevard and Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center at 16111 Plummer Street. Make Veterans a part of your community.

3. Hire a Veteran!

If you own a business, hire a Veteran or mentor a Veteran or service member who wants to be an entrepreneur.

4. Volunteer!

Whether at a soup kitchen this weekend or at an organization that builds care packages for troops, you can make a difference.

5. Thank a Veteran!

Ask someone about their service. Call or grab a cup of coffee with a service member or Veteran friend to let them know you are thinking about them. Send an old fashioned thank you card!

6. Fly a flag!
